1. What we do?
VisionTech Camps & Classes offers summer camps and after school technology education to kids ages 6 through 17 all year round.
2. How long has VisionTech been offering technology classes?
VisionTech has been offering quality technology education to bay area students for five years through summer camps and enrichment classes. We have been involved in robotics engineering and technology education for more than ten years as coaches and judges.
3. What makes VisionTech different from other camps?
Our main difference is our project based curriculum and our unique approach to teaching. We know how to teach so that kids learn. Our hand-on workshop style camps combined with our unique curriculum enables students to learn challenging technology concepts with ease. Whether it's a new engineering concept in robotics or a new game idea VTC helps students transform their imagination into a reality. 4. What courses VTC will be offering for 2008 summer camps?
VTC will be offering Robotics 1, Robotics 2, Build a Roomba Sentry, 2D Game Design, 3D Game Design, Game Modding, Build a PC, Digital Movie Production and Podcasting.
5. Where are you offering your summer camps?
We are offering our 2008 summer camp in Danville in Stone Valley Middle School. We will offer half day Robotics and 2D Game Design summer camp in Lafayette Community Center and full day Robotics Engineering I and 2D Game Design Camps in Piedmont. For dates,location and tuition please see here.
6. What is the cost of your week long summer camps?
Our summer camps are $599.00 with varied material fees. Please see our Tuition link in the Program page for more info.
7. Can my child bring a friend and can they work together?
Yes, we believe campers have way more fun with their friends. Remember to fill out and send the friend referral form for $25.00 discount.
8. Can a younger child take a course targeted for older campers?
At VTC, we are the parents of gifted children ourselves; and we don't believe that age should be a limitation to what a child can achieve. The age guidelines are selected with general academic and social capabilities required for the course in mind. However, if you feel that your child has the experience or is gifted in the area of the class, please contact us and we will work with you to make sure your child is in a challenging but fun environment.
9. If my child is new to technology/computer classes, what course should he or she start with?
Our 2D Game Design and Robotics I classes are our signature courses and are an excellent place to start.
11. Why are you not holding your camps in university settings?
Use of notebook computers allows us to be mobile and bring our services to the kids closer to home. We think with the rising gas prices and long commute time in the bay, our program provides a convenient solution for parents with busy schedules.
12. What kind of related teaching experience do your instructors have?
Many of our camps are taught by us. We have related education and experience in the fields we teach. We love to teach! We believe teaching has a greater impact on how children learn than anything else. We all have experienced in our lives, teachers who just had the magic touch. Many of our parents and students have commented that we just know how to teach. We respect each child's unique learning process and thrive to distinguish ourselves as a quality technology education provider. We always encourage students to explore challenging ways aware of the fact that Along with their education and experience VisionTech provides extensive training before our instructor go out to teach.
13. What is the student to instructor ratio?
Our highest student to instructor ratio in our summer camps is 7 to 1 in a full class. We pride ourselves on keeping our classes small so your child has the best experience and not a corporate one.
14. Do kids get to keep the stuff they make at the camp?
Absolutely, students in Digital Movie Production, and all of the Game Design classes will take home their games and movies on a CD or DVD. Students in Build A PC and Build a Roomba Sentry have a take home option at an extra cost. Podcasting students will take home their Podcast on a CD and will also have their Podcast/Vodcast available on the internet. Robotics Students will take home a CD with camp videos, pictures, programs and robot design guides.
15. Can my child bring his own laptop/camera to the camp?
Yes, but we provide enough equipments for all campers.
16. What if my child has questions about the subject he learned at camp after the summer camp is over?
Since we are a year round technology education provider you and your child will have access to us when ever you need it. Just email us your question or request for help we will get back to you as soon as we can.
17. Can my special needs child attend your camps?
Yes. VTC has accommodated to the needs of our special needs campers in the past and welcome them in the future with the requirement that they be able function independently in the camp.
18. Do you have financial aid or need based scholarships available?
