Engineering summer program for kids & teens
Engineering Camp at Vision Tech
Vision Tech Camps offers our weeklong engineering camp held at many locations in San Francisco Bay Area. Our engineering camp provides a fun, engaging learning environment where students design and create projects while discovering the underlying engineering principles and processes. Engineering camps offer an exploration of engineering fields using the Vision Tech tested hands-on and project-based learning approach. As students work on their projects, they investigate the design process while exploring a multitude of different engineering disciplines including electrical engineering, robotics engineering, computer hardware engineering, and mechanical engineering. Whether its robotics, 3D printing, or building a computer camp, engineering is a 21st century STEM skills all children should explore. An early introduction to engineering encourages kids & teens to consider engineering as a career and view the world with a critical eye.
What is Engineering?
Engineering is the application of scientific and mathematical knowledge to invent, design and build systems, components and many ranges of solutions. Engineers apply their knowledge of mathematics and science to find an innovative solution to problems. Engineering is very broad discipline and encompasses many fields. The field of engineering can be divided into four main branches.
- Mechanical engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Chemical engineering
- Civil engineering
Who is an Engineer?
An engineer is a dreamer who invents. They use their scientific knowledge to solve problems and make things work more efficiently. Engineers design systems, material, and structures within the limitation of budget, safety, and regulations. A typical engineering degree is a 4-year bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree.
Why Teach Engineering to Kids?
A career in engineering is never boring. Engineering requires creative thinking, engineers can design and build robots that can help in rescue missions, automate and increase productivity in factories.
Research shows that when engineering education is part of elementary level education, kids are more likely to see the value of science education and feel more enthusiastic about exciting opportunities available for jobs, higher education, and entrepreneurship. Early education encourages many students’ especially girls to consider engineering as career choice and value mathematics and science education in life. A career in engineering is never boring. Engineers can design and build robots that can help in rescue missions, automate and increase productivity in factories.
About Engineering Camp
Teaching kids & teens engineering from an early age reinforces math and science skills along with critical thinking and creativity. Our Engineering camp is designed to be inquiry based and kids explore different engineering STEM skills by designing and building solution following the engineering design process. Throughout these camps, students learn about real-world applications of skills they learn, by building and testing their creations.
Our engaging engineering camp program encourages kids & teens interested in STEM fields by providing innovative hands-on projects that are designed to be interactive and fun. Carefully chosen engineering courses allow kids to experiment, test, and iterate their designs and ideas. Our engineering curriculum is taught by instructors who are themselves engineers and have a deep passion for science and teaching STEM skills to students.

Engineering Summer Camps
Engineering camp is an excellent introduction to the engineering profession and a great resource for a preparing for engineering careers. Vision Tech Camps offers many engineering summer courses for elementary through high school students’. Our engineering courses help the student develop engineering skills through hands-on activities where kids & teen can design and build engineering projects such as Arduino robots, electronics, circuits, 3D printing & modeling and robotics engineering. For engineering camp location please check our location page.
- Campers experiment using a variety of engineering hardware and software through fun and hands-on activities.
- Students learn about the process of prototyping, testing, iterating, and redesign
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Science and math principles critical to STEM learning
- Campers learn how to use design thinking to solve critical problems
- Using reasoning to break down complex problems into simple tasks
When can I register for engineering camp?
Registration opens in January and camp closes once filled. Register early to ensure a spot of your first choice!
Where are engineering camps held?
Engineering camps are held in Danville, Saratoga, Lafayette, Berkeley and Piedmont in San Francisco Bay Area.
What type of engineering courses Vision Tech offers?
Vision Tech offers many engineering course tracks. Our engineering camps offers programs in robotics engineering, electronics and electrical engineering, 3D printing and modeling and computer engineering.
What kind of projects will kids take home?
It depends on the course. Please check individual course detail for more information.
What do I need to bring to camp?
Everything students will need for their camp will be provided by Vision Tech Camps.
Does my child need to have any prior experience in engineering before attending Vision Tech Engineering Camps?
It depends on the course, but most courses have no engineering prerequisites. As students work individually on their projects, they can work at their pace.
What happens during each individual engineering camp?
Students spend the week working on engineering projects and build high quality hands-on projects while meeting friends who share similar interest.
What kind of software is used in engineering camps?
We use professional grade software for all our engineering camp. For our engineering camps, we use Arduino IDE and C, C++, Lego Mindstorm System and Adobe Autodesk 123D. For specific software used per engineering camp, please visit our individual camp pages.
